There are a few places in the world that seem to demand that you just let yourself go, unbend and soar with the wind. The Edge of the World is one of them.  The "Edge" is truly a special place the asks us to remember what nature and being is all about. South Kona is known for its rural flavor. People who live here call it the real Hawaii - as opposed to the hustle and bustle of Waikiki or the resorts to the north.

As the name implies, this is the edge of the world, or so said the explorer James Cook in his log book back in the 1700's. You can view down into Kealakekua Bay, from your room or the lanai, to where he met his demise.  It's easy to imagine his awe of this island and not difficult to imagine the natives' awe of him and his ship.

Hi, my name is Kurt. I've been a pilot, a professor, a writer, an inn keeper and coffee farmer. The Edge of the World is a modern, comfortable and tranquil bed and breakfast with amazing views down the Kona Coast and out to the Pacific Ocean. As a pilot in my earlier life, I traveled to every corner of the Hawaiian Islands, and decided this area is the best of the best (in terms of weather, things to do, and the general feeling of nature here). This is a boutique, upscale B&B with downscale prices. What we save on expensive advertising and 1200 thread Egyptian cotton sheets we pass on to our guests in the form of what I believe are among the best value rates on the island. The house has various treasures from our families travels around the world, like masks from Borneo and Buddhas from Bali that keep away the evil spirits. We've been hosting folks from about the world for more than 15 most enjoyable years and our the optimal size for interacting with other interesting travelers.

The Hawaiian word ohana translates loosely to family, or extended family including friends. My family and I would like to invite you to join our ohana in Captain Cook on the Kona coast of the Big Island for a while. Our aim is to ensure you enjoy it enough to come back again some day. Many folks, in our 14 years of running the B&B, regularly do.

We look forward to your stay.
